Sharing a Room

About 3 weeks ago we moved the boys into the same room. Ryan, who is normally a great sleeper, had begun crying 20 minutes after I put him down every night and crying for 30 minutes or more. I figured he needed something like music or a light show, something to distract him. Problem: we only have one set of speakers and one jellyfish lamp and both were in JJ's room. As it turns out, because of the way JJ's room is laid out, there isn't enough room for two beds. So then came the task of convincing JJ that moving into Ryan's room would be a great idea. The fact that the room is green was a huge perk. We bought some glow-in-the- dark planets to go with the stars and promised him some Toy Story and Cars vinyl designs on the walls.

So when I thought he was sufficiently convinced we made the move. I was soooooooooo nervous. Everyone I talked to said it was surprising how easy it was, but I thought, no way would my boys be that easy. However, it was. One of the first nights, Ryan started crying, I heard JJ say something and the boys went back to sleep. A few hours later, Ryan started crying again and I heard JJ say, "Don't cry Ryan, there's nothing to worry about, I'm right here." Awesome.

There have been a few rough nights here or there, but for the most part, it's great. I love putting them both down at the same time and having the rest of the evening free. Bedtime is a little crazy, but it is oh, so, nice. We were planning on having the baby sleep in the hall, but this is so much better.
