Jack is 7 months old

Well, Jack keeps growing, despite me begging him to stay little. He sits up pretty well, although if you get him too excited, he'll fall over. He is weeks away from crawling. You can tell he has the desire and he's starting to understand the mechanics, he just can't quite get his body to cooperate. He gets worked up and then he tries to get his legs up and instead his rear end gets up and I'm going to have to record it because it is funny.

He is really starting to show preferences. He likes watching TV, especially Mickey Mouse. When we are in the car, he likes to watch his brothers in the back seat goofing around and when they sing Old McDonald. His two front upper teeth will be breaking through soon, so he's pretty droolly and sometimes miserable. This month we also made our first trek with Jack to urgent care. He ended up just having a virus that had to run it's course (which included a full body rash for 2 days), which is always fun. But despite that, he continues to be a happy guy.

So I am attempting to post a video here, we'll see how it goes. He did this one day and it was so funny. I'm glad I recorded it, because I can't get him to do it again.

Jack is 6 months old

Here we are, another month has gone by without a post. I continue to ask the earth to stop turning for a while so I can get caught up, but my pleas are in vain and the world just keeps turning and I keep trying to catch up. So here is the monthly update. Jack continues to be a happy and content child. Everyone who spends more than 5 minutes with him remarks about his good nature.
This was a much better sleeping month, reverting back to his once a night wake-ups. He has a few accomplishments, including rolling over as a mode of transportation, being strong enough to play in his exersaucer (see picture below) and TWO teeth.
He's funny about his exersaucer. He manipulates each station far better than either of his older brothers, but he doesn't enjoy being in it nearly as much as the older two. He much prefers being on the floor.
He likes watching TV, especially Baby Einstein movies and Thomas (oh yay, another train fan. At least we already have all the toys). He likes to play Wheels on the Bus and likes to be read to, although he likes chewing on the books even more
He thinks his brothers are hilarious and just can't get enough of them.

And he still doesn't like food. He tolerates carrots okay, but everything else gets spit out. Did you notice the specks of food in his hair. He spit them there. Feeding time is such a mess.

At his 6 month check-up he was 27 inches (79%), 16.8 lbs (39%) and 17.5 inch head (70%).

I really love this stage of his life where we get to look forward to more milestones: sitting up, crawling, more teeth, talking and eventually walking. So fun.

Jack is 5 months old

Jack is getting more and more interactive and fun. Some highlights from this past month. He loves his feet and gets them up to his mouth. He's grabbing onto toys and getting them to his mouth.

He is really loving the mirror. We started solid foods and he does not like it. What he doesn't immediately push out with his tongue thrust he spits out and not just spit it out like it runs down his chin, but spits out like I end up wearing it. I've taken to wearing a bib myself. He sits up pretty well as long as he is propped up in a chair (or box) with high arm rests. He does not like sitting in his Bumbo seat.
This has been a rough month for sleeping. He was a great sleeper, but this month he was up every two hours. I'm hoping this does not keep up.
His eyes are getting darker and his hair is geting lighter. He has rolled from back to front and front to back. He does not do it regularly, but enough that I can't leave him on my bed alone anymore.
And he had his first Halloween. Which he spent most of chewing on his costume.
He likes to be sung to, especially at church. He likes watching TV and watching his brothers play. His favorite toy is the chain links. He likes to play "Jack-Jack is sooooo big" and he is very ticklish. He continues to be super easy going and calm. And really, really cute.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!! Our boys are way excited for trick or treating tonight.

We'll be taking Winnie the Pooh

Jack, in a box (get it, ha, ha)
And an astronaut.
This costume has reinforced my conviction in store bought costumes. It cost more money, took way more time, and caused far more stress. But JJ loves it, and that's what's important.
He did most of the designing, he was very specific about the hoses and where they go.
He put on all the buttons and I even let him help me spray paint the helmet and backpack. I found a NASA font on the computer and was able to cut out his name and NASA with my Cricut.
Today at school, they had a parade. This is JJ's class. He is third from the left. Sorry for the picture quality, that's as far as my camera zooms. And it was my first time going, next year, I'll sit up closer.

Hope you all get to enjoy some yummy treats tonight. I know we will be.

More about Ryan

I just love Ryan's smile. His whole face smiles. He is a happy kid who wants to experience everything (that's a really nice way of saying he is into everything and goes everywhere, often without me noticing).

He loves to play outside, especially swinging and jumping on the trampoline. He loves balls, all kinds and even in the car, he's on the lookout for balls, basketball hoops, soccer goals, etc. He loves Winnie the Pooh, Baby Einstein movies, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He loves music and singing. He sings Twinkle, Twinkle, I am a Child of God, Row, Row, Row your Boat and the Alphabet. Speaking of the alphabet, he also recognizes most letters. He loves the iPad and we have several apps that we got for Jeremiah to learn to spell and it has the upside of also teaching Ryan.

He loves to do puzzles. In fact, it's his favorite part of Nursery. He loves church in general. He leads the music, says Amen louder than anyone else in church (in fact, I had someone call me and tell me how much they enjoyed hearing him say Amen), and then he runs off to nursery to play puzzles.

He eats oatmeal almost everyday for breakfast, loves pancakes and waffles, chicken nuggets, fries, rootbeer, beans, rice, cheese, and milk, lots and lots of milk.

He has a fun little personality and attitude and he says the funniest things. A few months ago he started trying to figure out humor so he would say, "That's funny." Which I know means nothing to you readers, but I know how it sounds and I want to remember. He also says, "I don't shink show (think so)," whenever I tell him we're going to do something he doesn't want to do. And his newest phrase I love..."Actually mom, ..." He's a riot.

He can't wait to go to school. When we take JJ, Ryan has to have his backpack and then stands in line and cries when we have to leave.

And finally, one his best traits, that always amazes me is how good his is at cleaning up. If there is a spill, he finds a rag and starts to wipe. He picks up toys without being asked and he is just all around helpful.

He is a focused and determined child which is great except when he is focused on and determined to cause trouble, but his determination will serve him well when he is older. He is a great kid, who keeps us laughing with all his cuteness.

Ryan's 2nd Birthday

Ryan is two now!! Where did the time go. The pictures are backward, but it would take too long to fix it, so we'll go backward. Ryan loves balloons. In fact, like most two year olds, I probably could have just bought balloons and he'd be happy.

Loving the candles
Our nerdy family, face timing with our out of town family.

This cake has quite the story. Ryan started off wanting a Lightning McQueen cake, mostly because that's what JJ wants for his birthday. I wanted Ryan to have something more his style and he loves Winnie the Pooh, so I worked for a couple of days convincing him that Winnie the Pooh would be fun. So a couple of days before his birthday, I hop on Amazon to order the cake pan only to discover that all Winnie the Pooh cake pans are retired. What?!? I didn't know these things "retired." So at the last minute I was scrambling and had decided to just order a cake from a bakery. I happened to go to enrichment that night and one of my neighbors happened to overhear me discussing my predicament and said she had a pan I could borrow. Two of my other neighbors had parts of the Winnie the Pooh coloring kit and so at the last minute, I was able to pull it off. Luckily, we had a good nap time that day and I was able to get it all done.
Ryan got a Geo trax train

JJ needed to help unwrap.
This was one happy boy.
